Memories of Jeremy: Matt's perspective

Those glasses! How could I forget? He was wearing those infamous glasses when he was hit by the car on the corner of Federal Street and Summer Street. Remember that day? You weren't with us. We were coming back from, of all place, K-Mart. We were on our bikes, and I crossed over from Summer to Federal, knowing I could make it, but Jeremy followed, not looking, just assuming that he would make it as well.

After he was hit, I ran to the nearest house to call our parents while someone else was calling 911. Mom answered, and I calmly said, "Hi, Mom. Can I speak to Dad for a second?"

Not bad for a twelve year old. Huh?

I also remember that the police tried to get me to say that the car that hit Jeremy was speeding, but I honestly didn't know, and I knew that the accident was Jeremy's fault anyway. He didn't look before crossing, and so he got hit.

Something you can relate to well. Right, Kelli?

I can't remember the extent of his injuries, or if he stayed in the hospital overnight, or really anything else about that day.

You?

Memories of Jeremy: Kelli's perspective

I have two types of good memories of my brother Jeremy, who is currently MIA. The first type is a memory of something fun or silly. When I was in the sixth grade, I had a candle in the shape of a squirrel. Jeremy would come in my room every morning to wake me up. When he did he would see the squirrel candle on my bureau and he would make it talk to me. "The squirrel" would beg me to put him in my school bag and bring him with me to school. When I said no "the squirrel" would cry and beg and plead until I took it with me to school. This happened almost every morning. Looking back, I wonder why I didn't put it in the bureau drawer to avoid the whole situation.

The other good memory I have of Jeremy was my brother Matt and I ganging up on him. I enjoyed this so much because it rarely happened. Usually it was the boys ganging up on me. Jeremy was a huge neat freak.. In my opinion he was borderline OCD. When he would make his bed in the morning, he made sure that his Star Wars bedspread was perfectly even on both sides. He made sure that there was not one crease. After he left the room, Matt and I would make it uneven and put lumps in it. We would wait for him to come back and see it. He would go crazy and immediately fix it and Matt and I would laugh and laugh.

Another good memory of "The Hazing of Jeremy" is when he broke his glasses. They broke right the ridge where the two lenses are connected. My mother taped them with white cloth tape. Jeremy didn't seem to mind. He even went as far as to draw the letter J over the tape in red magic marker. He walked around like that for weeks and Matt and I laughed and laughed.

Ah the memories.

Where's Waldo?

Okay, Kelli. Let's start with something easy and applicable. Since our brother is currently missing, what's one of your best memories about Jeremy from childhood?
